Hello friends,
I recently installed new rubber door seals / moldings on my TR6, and I
am disappointed. I purchased a seals kit from one of the big parts houses,
and the quality of the molding is poor.
As you probably know, the molding is a springy metal core, covered in
velour with a rubber edge to seal the door. Two problems immediately arose.
The velour had threads hanging that when pulled (unintentionally), caused
the velour to unravel leaving black fuzzy bits all over. But the bigger
problem is that the metal liner, the bit that grips the car's metal seam.
It's aluminum, not spring steel! It deforms upon installation the remains
loose.
I see two options: glue the molding on, or replace it with a higher
quality product. I prefer the latter. What have you used? Satisfied? If so,
please share the vendor's name.
