Tim,
Even if there is no listing for the bearing at a supply store, take the
hub and shaft to a bearing store, and they will measure the inside and
outside and give you a sealed bearing for this, and at half the cost of an
auto parts store!
BUT, The one problem with those generators is that the front poetion which
is Aluminum, where the bearing fits into, gets worn out, and the bearings
won't even fit properly! The grateing sound is usually the internals of the
generator rubbing since the main shaft has moved out of whack by a few
thousanths.
If this has happened, there are only four fixes.
1. Find a new front piece
2. Machine out your currnent front piece to accept a larger Outside diameter
bearing
3.COnvert to an alternator.
4. Buy a BMW
Since the #2 & 4 option are out of the question for finnancial reasons, I
suggest you look at # 1 & 3.
