I guess it depends on how much coverage your looking for and how smooth a
fixative layer is required. There are a number of good waterproof glues on
the market for small jobs that are flexible under an extremely wide range of
temperatures (-75F - 165F) and will bond to most things, plastic, metal,
glass, wood, leather, etc. I long ago started to use some of the adhesives
designed for footwear as a general shop glue. May sound unusual but I've
never had anything come apart on me and they seal very well. Used a tube
once to reglue the weather stripping around the door of an old Toyota
landcruiser (bushbuggy). It lasted until I sold the truck several years
later. Generally these are, however, limited to small applications.
