Hi all: Another possibility is a broken wire leading from the temp sending
unit. This has happened to me.

While driving the Series 3 to work today, the temp gauge slowly climbed
into the normal range, then alarmingly continued past until comfortably
seating itself at the very far end of HOT. Panic ensued but I kept on
driving (as any good Alpine owner would). I tried all the tricks, turning
the heater on, praying, popping the hood, but it didn't move. However, it
never boiled over and I made it to work.

What do you think? Stuck thermostat? Bad temp sending unit? Gauge?

Bring on the helpful hints!
