NEGATIVE on removing the thermostat! If the ambient air temp is too high,
removing the thermostat will cause the engine to run hotter not cooler. If
you remove the thermostat in the summer, you will run a lot hotter and put
yourself in danger of overheating. If you remove it in the winter, the
engine may never reach optimum operating temperature and you run colder. The
thermostat regulates engine temperature regardless of ambient air
temperature (if it is working properly). Removing the thermostat puts your
engine temperature at the mercy of the air temperature flowing over your
radiator.

Try taking out your thermostat and see if it runs cool. It should
run
colder without it. Also, try your old thermostat and see what happens.
