Hi, List

I'm rebuilding a 1725 cc five bearing Alpine engine from
A Singer Vogue 4 (?) Block, and have a few Questions

1/ What are my torque wrench settings for the main bearings and big-end
caps?
My only manual for 1725cc Alpine 5 & Vogue 4 lists different settings from
those in my collection of early 1725cc Hunter manuals. - Any way to tell
Whether my block is post- or pre- Hunter ??

2/ I've fitted a re-machined cam, the rear sealing plate, and hand tightened
the cam-retaining plate but there seems a lot of axial play- about 4 or 5 mm
Backwards / forwards - is this normal?
Will this be taken up when I fit the timing gear wheel ??

3/ Where do the the two cylinder head mounting *studs* go in the block?
(all my bolts and studs have been in boxes for 15 years, long before I got
car)

4/ Anybody (in the UK ?) got a *scrap* pair of (or just one) Zeniths for
Series 3 alpine ??
I've rebuilt a nice pair (actually from a Rapier ), but one had the tiny
accelerator-pump discharge ball missing.

TIA

Andy

I'm sure plent more questions will follow
