Give Paul a break.  Anybody old enough to know about leaf springs, (AND he
started out with a Triumph) is entitled to a memory lapse or, as we like to call

Uhh, Paul, better think a bit more, the memory's going. Your Gulia
Spider had a live rear axle, albeit a relatively well-located one. I've
had several of those up in the air (was paid to work on 'em many years
ago), and none of 'em had IRS.
