I know I am going to catch flak for this, but I have to ask.....I am
a previous Miata owner, a 93' and a 95', have done a number of different
things with them, SOLO2, open track events and drag raced with the help of
the little blue bottle. I do agree that there are performance differences
between the different years, 1.6 Vs 1.8 cars. In fact there is no question
that a 1.6 no matter how well prepped would not win BS today.
Is the car so much slower it needs to be moved to another class? We
are not talking about a different car, just an out dated one. I have even
seen CS post times that have beat BS at Tours and Pros. So will this make
the car competitive?
Not to beat a dead horse, but look at the Corvette in SS. Forget
about the RX7, just look at the difference between Vettes. 84' 205 hp, no
abs. 85' to 91' 230 to 250 hp, 92' to 95' 300hp, 96' 330hp. Don't forget
ZR1s 375 to 405hp. None of these have shown to blow the others away, but
there are definitely preferred cars. Now we have the C5, right around 350
hp, 17" and 18" wheels, when more tires and parts become available we will
see its true potential.
I don't see the vettes being split up......Look at FS major
difference between LS1 powered cars and LT1 or L98.
I know the Miata has a huge following, I had two, but so do other
cars. I can see separating cars that have major differences, single cam neon
Es dual cam Ds. There is a bigger performance gap. I just don't see that
difference between the Miata's.
Can someone help me to understand where the argument for this came
from, and how they convinced the SEB to make it happen? It may help me to
get my car moved.
