Hawk Street Performance compound pads, I think the best for street-driven
a-x cars, cheap from Racer Parts Wholesale.  If you don't want to wait,
go to Pep Boys and get the Bendix Brute Stop pads.  Be sure and ask the
counter guy about the warranty.  You will probably be amazed.  As for the
pedal being soft, about 90% of the time that will be cured by a rear
brake service or possibly by just adjusting the rear brake shoes.  If
your hand brake will pull out either all the way or most of the way I
will almost guarantee that is the problem.  Adjust the shoes out until
the brake lever will only pull out about 6 clicks and see if that firms
up the pedal.  If not, have the brake hydraulic system checked out.  Air
in the lines or a small leak will cause a soft pedal but are usually also
accompanied by some pretty dramatic fade.
