John:

While I know that a 205 tire won't necessarily have a 205mm wide
cross-section, I do know that 1 inch equals 25.4mm, not 29.4mm. No biggie.

What I don't know for sure is: dos the "205" represent the *tire*
cross-section, or the *tread*? Can some tire guru please enlighten me?

7.2" = 183mm. A bit closer...
