Well, here MHO:
Bridgestone S-03 Pole Position: pretty much one of the best tires on the
market. If you're looking for ultimate performance these are the way to go
(the BFGoodrich Comp T/A KD and KDW are along the same lines, but don't come in
the right size). These aren't out yet, so this is based on the S-02 Pole
Positions, but I doubt they made the tire worse. They are very expensive
though.
The Michellin Pilots are good, but over priced IMHO.
The Pirelli PZeros are very very good as well.
The Bridgestone Potenza RE730s are not in the same league as the previous
tires, but it is a good tire for the money. It has a long tread life, and
doesn't lose much traction in wet conditions. It does, however, tend to lose
traction suddenly, giving the driver little warning that they are going to
slide.
I've got the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s on my car right now, and I don't think I'd
ever buy them again. Dry traction is decent but wet traction isn't very good.
For the price they are good tires, but if you're willing to spend more for
better performance go with something else.
Pirelli P7000 are also good tires. I would put them in the same bag as the
Potenza RE730s, although tread life my be a problem with these if you do not
get the Super Sports (which aren't quite as grippy as the regular P7000).
And last the Yokohama A520s...these have a pretty low tread wear rating at 140.
You would probably have to replace them every year. If you want tread life
don't go with these tires. If you want very good traction, quick heat up time,
and some warning before they begin to slide, then these tires are good, but for
tire life, they aren't the best. Also, their wet traction isn't as good as the
RE730s, but the dry traction is better than the RE730s.
Those are the tires that I know about...I don't know about the other tires. If
money was no object I would go with the S-03 Pole Positions. If you don't want
to spend that much on tires, I would probably go with the PZeros, or if you
don't want to spend that much the RE730s or the P7000s since you want the tires
to last.
