I used the MAE site all last year. I posted the South Bend Region's events
to the site, and it worked out quite well. I have not gotten a single piece
of spam that I could attribute to MAE. I received no complaints from our
users, although upon first setting up the system, some did express some
similar (but more politely worded) concerns. These concerns were addressed
by MAE. MAE was very responsive to feature requests and bug reports, even
though we were not using the online payment feature.

MAE is providing a great service to the AutoX community, and trying to make
a buck or two while they're at it. There is no crime in this.

It is my understanding that user registration is required so that the
database is not available to just anyone, and the entry lists can't be
easily searched by web trawlers looking for people to spam. It's a security
feature DESIGNED TO PROTECT YOU.

Before we go assassinating the character of people we don't know, and making
accusations that we can't back up, let's please take the time to research
the subject. Then if you still have concerns that can be expressed
reasonably and thoughtfully, by all means do so.

I will be writing my rebuttal letter to Steve Johnson today.
