I can definitely relate to this complaint. My second run on Saturday was an
adrenaline pumping 59.643, and I knew I had demolished one cone. The
announcer said I had one cone, and the timeslip guy gave me a slip that said
"+1" on it. Fortunately, even with a cone, my time was good enough for
first in class. BUT, when the results came out, my time reflected a 2 cone
penalty which put me back in third place! I suppose I could have hit
another cone, but I have no idea where.

I don't want to get people all riled up about this, but it is a little
frustrating (I guess I'm venting, really). I know I could have gone up and
asked the trailer workers, but I know how much they hate that (I work the
trailer often). If I had known I had that extra cone, I wouldn't have gone
like hell to try for top time of day, but rather a clean run to secure top
spot in class.

Since we have so many people at the events these days, why don't we have any
time posters? Is it because we don't have nice little sheets to write all
the info on? Perhaps there's another reason. If it's because there aren't
any neat posting sheets, I'll volunteer to make some. Does this sounds like
a good idea? Any other thoughts?

This whole thing gives me bad memories from the Divisional last year. The
exact same thing happened to me on the second day....I had a good enough
time for 3rd, but didn't know I had a cone, so I blew the last run trying to
go all out. I'm sure the time was posted then, and it was my fault for not
checking.

I'll stop rambling now. See you all at Stockton this Sunday. :-)

P.S. That was the best 3COM course I've seen yet! The previous ones have
been pretty bumpy (especially the rainy practice event).

Jesse,
I know everyone gets tired of my refrain: "If we had posting at events,
this kind of info, such as mystical cones, could be corrected at the site."
No
one thinks it's very important until we post the results 2-3 days later.
Sigh.
Sometimes the old fashioned methods (hand-writing the card info on posting
sheets) works best.
