Kumho wear

Novice question for all you guys:

My kumhos from my dead MR2 have turned a beautiful shade of blue on the
outer edge of the tread (ok, a blue hue on the black rubber). This is
my first set of kumhos (i made the Hoosiers square :). Is this common
and does it mean they will cord soon? The tires are well worn but no
cord is showing yet.
