Sigh. Since 1999 new members have grown by
15 per event. Returning members have grown
by 8 per event. They are running in the new
Street Touring and Street Modified clases
with 5.3 on street tires and 2.7 on R tires.
Stock/SP/Prep/Mod class participation is down
slightly. Regional only class participation
is down dramatically with returning members
moving to the new classes.
IN MY OPINION:
Growth in new members is due to the location
of the sites being used, and was limited
by requiring membership. Overall participation
fell by 36 per event in 2001.
Growth in returning members is due to SFR
adopting the new national classes.
Additional growth in committed competitors
is only likely to come from a revamping
of the SFR trophy system.
