A week ago today, we have learned, was the date Cheryl Fellows died of
cancer at a Peninsula hospice.
Mrs. Fellows was an active autocrosser, driving a Corvette, in the
late '60s, through the '70s and '80s. She was a member of Camino Corvettes
and Sports Car Autocross Team (SCAT).
After several years away from the sport, she and her husband, Roger
Fellows, decided to get back to the fun and approx. five years ago both
attended and completed the SCCA-SFR autocross school at Candlestick Park.
Twice, a year apart. Then the couple entered an American Autocross Series
event at Mather Field in Rancho Cordova, CA.
That was the weekend the course designer decided to utilize some
gate-style maneuvers with no gypsum lines marking the course edges.
Previously all the AAS events had been in the miniature road course pattern
developed at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds with the course clearly marked.
She got lost on each run, each scored as a DNF. They retired from
autocrossing.
She is survived by her widower, Roger Fellows of Mountain View, CA.
