From my experience, I don't have a clue. I've never really driven my car,
only worked on it. :) But listening to others, it seems pretty accurate.
You can measure it yourself. Pull the guage, and the sending unit. Get
a 12V lantern battery and some aligator clips. Connect it up. Take a
small bowl/cup of water and microwave it until it boils. Then drop the
sending unit in it and a cooking thermometer. Now you can compare the
guage reading with the thermometer. If you want to check temps above 212,
use oil instead of water. (Becareful if using oil around an open flame!!!)
