Just picked up the new (8th ed) Hemmings Motor News Almanac. It has
alphabetized and catagorized info in major groups, such as:
-Parts, literature and supplies, by marque, and by type
-Clubs, registers, etc.
-Museums
-Junkyards, by state.
-Index of all listings (unlike the monthly)
It's fairly comprehensive, and contains quite a few major listings, with
more minor listings for less common makes. A useful, but no means complete
reference.
Re-itterating- THe Dec. issue of British Car had a very nice
directory of *British car* sources. Including some very small specialists.
But I still haven't found the # for Nissonger...
I also got a copy of Dave Beans English Ford Racers Catalogue -$4,
and worth every penny. Even if you dont have a Ford, there's some interesting
technical info and gadgets. They do have some general use stuff, like their
own, high-perf replacement starters- get rid of the lucas lump on your TR,
MG, or what- and start every time. Also, the prices are good (as they can be)
ie: $30 instead of $40 for "Tuning The BL A-series Engine", but you too can
experience the sticker shock of dry-sump oil systems, and high flow oil
filters w/bypass indicator light.(!) Racing stuff isn't cheap, but it's neat.
The catalogue is mostly engine parts and info, with some accessories such as
valve covers, racing windscreens, 2 and *3* lug knockoffs. bean's main
market is Lotus, but they are obviously in to general Brit car performance.

my appitite has been wetted for a good book on building race engines and cars.
(Good thing I can't afford to go too fast. ? 8-O )
