Just to add more confusion to the great trunnion debate, the Haynes
manual does call for gear oil in the TR4A trunnion (grease in the
TR2-4 trunnions).

Does anyone have a convincing argument as to why oil would be better
than grease in this part? Is transmission oil better suited to the
load placed on the bearing surface than grease? Since the front
suspension (among other things, but that's another story...) on
my TR4A is mostly apart right now, it would be a good time to
revert to oil if there is a real benefit.

In other news, Thourghbred & Classic Cars (just Classic Cars in
England) has some lovely shots of a red restored TR4, and Classic
and Sportscar has a good article on a restored TR3A and an excellent
profile on the Healy 100/4.
