About driving your car from the left coast to Boulder... I'd sell my teeth for the opportunity. Time and tide get in the way, tho'. About doing paint-prep work, I found an orbital snader to be a great tool, one of those little Black&Decker woodworking-type sanders, small enought to get into tight corners and fit itty-bitty sports car contours easily, and light enough that you can hold it for minutes on end.
