I have picked up the last couple of issues of Classic Cars magazine
at the local newsstand, and I think it's worth pointing out to those
of you who may not be aware of it. It's a rather thick British
magazine covering the "classic car movement" rather broadly defined.
Each issue includes a "how to buy" some classic article (January is
MGAs, December was Alfa Spiders) and a bunch of other stuff.

The January issue includes an interesting article. You know the
usual C&D or R&T comparison test, usually titled something like,
"Six Totally Unrelated Cars that are Advertised in This Magazine
Driven to a Marvelous Destination by Us?" Well, this one is a comparison
test of "affordable classics". The cars are: Midget, Spitfire,
Herald, Beetle, Mini, and Minor. Some pretty neat examples.

There are also tons of ads from dealers offering every car you've
ever dreamed of, usually for prices which would be unreasonable
if they were in dollars, let alone pounds! One ad made an assertion
which might be worth a discussion all its own - it said that 400
cars a month leave West Coast ports to go to buyers around the
world! Interesting if true.

I have no interest in the magazine other than that it's fun to read!
Check it out.

Wayne
