The 1300 has cam bearings and the 1500 does not. Has anyone used a 1500 cam
in the 1300 motor by removing the cam bearings. I assume that because the
blocks
are almost identical this is ok. The reason I ask is that I have done this.
British Automotive said it was OK but I trust them as far as I can throw them.
Now I have odd oil pressure. I fitted new bearings all round the engine
but have oil pressure as follows: 75 when cold. At speed when hot 60. At idle
when hot 20 but as low as 10. The oil pressure needle looks like a rev counter
needle as it goes up and down almost as the revs do until 2000-2500 then it
stops
at 60. Could this be caused by too much clearence between the cam and block?
The bearing surface on the 1500 and 1300 cam have different diameters and the
1500 cam would not fit in the block with the cam bearings there (this is how
I found outI had a 1300 Spit motor in my Midget and not the 1500..SURPRISE!)

Cheers DW
