Well we had a very unfortunate thing happen here, we had a system go
down and I lost most of my saved mail from the last few days. Which
means I lost all of the responses that I had received from y'all
concerning my intermittant running MGB.

Is there a way to request the digests from like Wednesday of last week
to today? Or is this a question that I should be requesting of mjb?

Some of the respones I got I had not had a chance to try yet :-(

I have determined that it is not a ground problem or a problem with the
positive side of the battery grounding out. It almost seems to be
related with the ignition system. I just can't seem to find where just
yet. I would be really nice if the car would die and not start with this
problem than I could locate it. The down side is I would probably need
to be jumped or have a battery charger handy to help diagnose this problem.

Some interesting tid bits that I have noticed when the car starts to act up.
The tach usually registers 0 rpm when this happens, I thought that the
tach was run from a gear off the distributor and cam, if this is the case then
have I got a distributor problem like it is coming out of it's socket,
something loose and causing the distributor to spin and catch and
continue to run. By popping the clutch while coasting I can usually get
it to start. I have yet have it die while at a complete stop.

I have checked all of the leads to and from the coil and distributor, and
they all appear to be OK. One thing I have not tried is to replace all
of those with new connectors, and in some cases with new wire.

Could a funky set of points be causing this? Or a bad or intermittent
condenser? I am presently using a NON-Lucas set of points and condenser
in the distributor. They have worked for quite awile without failure,
but I was told by a mechanic friend of mine to only use Lucas ingnition
parts in the distributor (maybe I should take his advice and do this?).

If memory serves me correctly Scott Fisher #1 (Palo Alto) had some of
the suggestins I'm looking for, but unfortunately that was one of the
messages that got lost in the crash.

Thanks for all of the respones I got from my original request. The
responses are to numerous to acknowledge. I tried to try all of them but
as I mentioned above before I could try them all I lost some of my mail,
among other things, but mail was most important to me. There are certain
things in life that take priority over other things, and my Brit Car
mail takes precedence over everything except of course the better
half (the wife), and because she is in Austin and I'm in Phoenix I do
not have to be concerned with one of the ten commandments of owning a
British Car. The one that says you should not cherish your British Car
more than your wife or girlfriend...
