Geeezz, I can Finally respond to someone else, and with help, too!
Yes, I know about clogged 6 tanks. Tilley has had that problem
in the past and very recently. It is NOT hard to remove the tank.
If I can, anybody can. It only requires simple tools (phillips and
slotted screw drivers and a 7/16 (I think) wrench. Allow about
2 1/2 hours for tank removal, cleaning, and replacing, the FIRST
time. Then, after that figure on about 1 hour.

BEFORE you remove the tank; from under the car disconnect the tank
from the fuel line and make sure that it is the tank that is clogged.
The last time I had the problem, it turned out the tank was NOT
clogged (the previous cleaning had been good) but it was the
metal fuel line that runs through the undercarriage from the tank to
the engine. Getting the metal fuel line out is a little awkward,
but again, is not difficult. I removed mine tried cleaning it out
and finally, after no luck, decided that even if I got it "partially"
cleaned I wouldn't feel comfortable reinstalling the old fuel line.
I suppose you could look for an "original" fuel line, but for Tilley,
I got a replacement from Kragen auto parts--no big deal, I just got
one the same size and Carefully, bent it to the same shape as the
original. NOte, the Kragen part was made of two pieces spliced with
a neoprene splice towards the rear. (The kragen fuel lines come in
standard lengths--max is 4 feet, hence, the splice to create a
fuel line about 5 1/2 feet long for the 6.)

Hint; another check to see if you can clear the tank is to hook
up some kind of air pressure from the fuel line Into the tank
to blow out the blockage. I used a bicycle pump--it worked once, but
not when the fuel line was the problem. When the tank blockage is
cleared, you can hear the air bubbles gurgling in the tank.

Try it; this way you truly get closer to your lbc...

Nick
