Essentially this is the same rack as the one in my snake. It was pretty
straight forward. The tie-rods can be un-done at the ball-joints
Removal of the ball-joints, as I had originally assumed, was not
necessary. According to my manual, rack oil is put in by squirting it
under a loosened boot end. This is what I did, but I'll opt for the
method described in the 'B manual in future. This manual suggests
removing the cover plate on the rack (careful, there's a spring loaded
piece inside) and pouring in 1/3 pint of the proper oil while moving the
wheels back and forth. My manual calls for 140 weight Hypoid gear oil
but I believe the 'B manual recommends 90 weight. Your choice. My rack
did leak oil at the boot ends for a while, but I think that's because I
over filled it. My manual doesn't specify the capacity and I just
guest.

Several people have commented on how the gaiters they ordered from Moss
rotted after a relatively short period of time. I bought my from TRF,
but they may well be from the same supplier. I installed mine about a
year ago and they still seem okay.
