Since I've been looking for a set of Minilite-like wheels for my MGB,
this caught my eye.

> I understand that the new Mini-Lites being imported by Select Sales in
> Florida (305-888-2828) are cheaper than Panasports and are pretty nice.
> Of course, they are not magnesium like the originals.

I called these folks and they faxed me some information. The add sez:

Performance Industries U.K. and Australia are
pleased to present to the U.S.A. the highest
quality race and rally wheels at an affordable
        price. Factory direct! Pure Performance!

It goes on to say:

New Minilite(R) design, made in new high strength,
Superlite(R) alloy at a price you can afford. Offset
engineered to maximize rules and put you in the winner's
circle. Proven design - new technology. Fits most applications.

Strictly speaking, these are not Minilites, they are Superlites.
The price they quoted me (racer net) for a set of four, including lug nuts
and shipping was less than the cost of Panasports alone. The guy on the
phone (Al) said these are made with "original Minilite tooling". They
sounded identical to Panasports as far as the finish (painted clear coated
centers with polished aluminum rim) and weight (~ 12 lbs.). I ordered a
set and will let you know how they turn out. Thought I might even set up
the dial micrometer and check them for concentricity and runout. These
wheels are going on my street MGB so it's not too critical but some of you
go-fast-guys might be more interested in the specifics. I do have a
question though. Does anyone have any experience with Select Sales? They
seemed very polite (no surprise here) and knowledgeable (some surprise
given the name) on the phone. When I called back a little later, Al was
unavailable because he was working on a racing engine. The very polite
and also knowledgeable woman I spoke with sez they also do this. Sounds
like a pretty cool place to me. Anyone with info, please e-mail me or
post here. I'm sure others would be interested.
