Hello net...

First, thanks to the many that had advice on ideas to assess the
condition of the motor in my recently acquired 66 TR4A. She's home with a
repaired from a-arm frame bracket, but with a missing shock as it was bent
in the incident. Well, this weekend started with an oil change and a
compression check. Net result: #1 @ 145, #2 @ 150, #3 @ 147, #4 @ 145.
But what is it supposed to be? Couldn't find this in the specs section
of the Haynes book and I've not received my shop manual set yet. Given
the even readings an some past experience with other motors, it seems
these readings are good news. It however still makes blue smoke when you
rev it. I plan on pulling the head tonight for what I assume is only a
need for a valve job, (PCV is OK too) but...

This car doesn't like inclines! For some reason, when the car is parked
pointed uphill (maybe downhill too, but only tried that once) the carbs
may start to pour gas out of the front. Once started, I suspect it is
the vibration that causes them to stop leaking. Once it was just the
front carb, next just the back. All I've done so far to the carbs is to
check the oil. The prev owner had "recently" rebuilt the carbs, but the
car was rarely driven the last 10 months. Ideas?
