I have seen an artist's impression of the new mid-engined MG (dubbed the
MGD). It was shown in a weekly UK magazine called CAR WEEK.
They somehow extrapolated a 'mule' Metro (kitted with a false rear end -
meaning easy access to the mid engine - and Montego alloy wheels) to the
BRG coloured MGD, but what the hell, it looked great.
If what they say is true, it will carry over the MGB nose shape and use an
MG EXE styled rear end (the MG EXE(?) was a 1985 prototype XJS basher).
The car will use the new Rover 200 (Honda Concerto) floorpan (c. 1995) and
will be Miata sized.
Engines will be 1.4, 1.6 and supercharged 1.8!
If it does see the light of day, and is cheapish, it will sell on looks
alone (like the Miata) regardless of pedigree.
