You ask: "did I do the right thing?"

Are you really attached to this car?  Something you lust for and love 
to drive? 
The prices you quote (Canadian dollars, I assumed) are on the high side 
but not out of the question.  If you end up with just the car you want and 
intend to keep for some years, you will have spent your money well.
