A good many of us have posted messages to this list requesting help. I
know I have. More than once someone has responded to one of my requests
by sending me parts or photo-copied information and has refused to
accept any payment in return. Up to now I have tried to respond in kind
to similar requests as a way of paying back these favors.

Last week Marcel Chichak shipped a set of tail light lenses to me form
his stash of Brit car parts, but when I offered to pay him, he refused,
suggesting, instead, that I send a contribution in his name to mjb's
disk fund. Today when Mark Grieshaber did me a similar favor and
refused payment, I suggested Marcel "solution" to him. He thought it
was a good idea. Then the idea struck me that this was a great way to
return some favors and to enhance the fund at the same time. How many
times has another list member sent, given or lent you something and
refused any return payment?

So here's my idea: next time another list member does you a favor at
some small cost to themselves, suggest repaying them by making a
donation to the fund in their name. If it's too small an amount, wait
for the favors to accumulate then make a single donation of a larger
amount. Keep in mind here I'm only talking about small amounts that
would otherwise be forgottenabout . To some with low fixed budgets, a
couple of dollars might mean a lot. Just ask my student son.

So what do you think Mark. Does this sound legal?

Roland
