This week I took the windshield out of my BugEye that is being dismantled
for a frame-up restoration and I intended to take it to the closest glass
shop and have it polished, quickly and cheaply....After all the windshield
is VERY small and has very few small scratches.

My surprise ... after spending 3 hours looking for someone to do the job ,
phoning every glass-shop in the SF Bay Area, and talking to lots of them ...
I realized that I just coudn't find one - nobody wants to do this. Finally
I got a guy that offered to take a look at it and make an estimate ...
my other surpise: $500.

I then went back to my original idea to buy one of these kits from Eastwood
and do it myself for $25. I discussed this with a couple of glass-workers
around here and they all said this is a big NO-NO ... because I would destroy
10 windshileds before doing one right ...

Is this really true ? Is it really a hard job ? Eastwood catalog seems to imply
that is very EASY and anybody can do a good job. Has anybody out there tried
to do this before ? Or know of somebody that does it for a reasonable price ?

Why is that nobody wants to do it ... not even for $150 ?
