Another vote for buying the biggest you can afford.
You might want to take a look at your rental home's electrics.
If you have 220 coming in, and most homes do, and the electric
service panel is in or near the garage, it's not all that expensive
to run a 220 line. It can even be done on a temporary basis. (I did
this myself once and it worked out very nicely) You could remove the
line when you move if it doesnt involve tearing up the sheetrock.
Also, if you plan to rent that property for more than one year, the
cost benefit/loss makes sense as you have your 220 compressor, and if you
remove the line you have your hook up for the next house.
Call an electrician, most of them wont charge for a consultation.
