Engine block color for Ford Kent motors

I'm not nearly this far along yet, but Ray Gibbons' message
reminded me:  What is the correct color for Ford Kent engine
blocks?  Specifically, the 1500 pre-crossflow put in Ginettas.
The one I'm rebuilding is from a Cortina GT, and it appears
to have at some point had some red paint on it.  Anyone know
if that is correct, and if so, what shade of red it was?
