Background: When I test drove (yes, the car ran and even had a valid
Mass. inspection sticker) my TR6 prior to purchase last August, I
noticed that the clutch travel was restricted. The clutch would grab
when the pedal was only about an inch or so up from the floor - but no
grinding or any other problems. I assumed that there was some air in
the line and that bleeding would take care of the problem. After
purchase I found a bottle of Dot 3 Brake fluid in the trunk from the DPO
- not good! So, I added the rebuild of the clutch master and slave
cylinders to my winter project list. The rebuilds were completed over
the winter.

Problem: The rebuilt slave and master cylinders were installed last
evening ( after we had to swing the spin-on oil filter adapter to one
side to fit the slave in place, but I digress). Upon an attempt to bleed
the lines, it appears that the master cyl. is producing very little
pressure - I removed the master cyl. and double checked that everything
was installed properly and it was. Here's my guess - the seat on the
check valve back to the fluid reservoir may be irregular and not making
a tight seal. If this is my problem, are there any suggestions on a
fix for the problem??? Or is the better thing to bite the bullet and
just replace the master cyl.??? Thanks in advance for any comments or
suggestions!
