Heat Shield Material

I am restoring an A-H 3000 and need to replace the asbestos heat shield 
material used to shield the car body from the exhaust system. Vicky Brit 
and Moss sell the stuff ready to install but it's expensive. British Car 
Specialists sell a 2' X 3' sheet of the stuff but it ain't cheap either 
($50). The original asbestos stuff is about 3/8" thick. 

Does anyone know of something that I can buy that is generic and 
reasonably priced?
