Marcus:
I would recommend that you try a different solvent. And I would NOT
turn over the motor using the starter. You can jam or burn the starter
or damage the flywheel's ring gear and then . . . bigger more
expensive problems.
I knew of a good friend (and an excellent mechanic) who swore by using
Pepsi Cola as a means to unstick motors (I kid you not. . .) I am not
suggesting that, but maybe you could try using diesel or penetrating
oil. In so far as a plug that broke off:
This is a classic case that happens more often than not. Try using a
reverse cut drill bit and drill the silly thing out. Snap-On and Mac
have devices you can use to get the threads back in order.
I would recommed that you use ant-seize compound on plugs, exhaust
manifold bolts, and any other fastener that comes into contact with
corrosive environments and temp. flucuations. This wonderful, silvery
goo prevents broken spark plugs, bolts, etc.
By the way, were these plugs Champions? Not to start a war here, but
this has happened to me with several Champion plugs from industrial
natural gas pump engines to lawn mowers and LBC cars.
