I have always found it difficult to try to look up info on my TR7... It
always seems to be unlisted.

The car is a '79 drophead coupe TR7 with Automatic transmission.

The production date is stamped as MARCH 79...
A book I was reading suggested that dropheads weren't produced until
JUNE 79 (that's three months after mine!). Is the book wrong?

The VIN is TCT 100691 UMA ... What does this mean?
As I understand it, TCT is for 79 dropheads...
100691 means that it was the 691st drophead produced in 79...
What does UMA refer to? (I can't find this anywhere)

The paint is HAF ... I read this to be Poseiden (sp?) -kind of a
metallic BRG, right?
(PO has repainted the car GM truck orange-red) 8^(

The trim is CAAA ... I can't find ANY listings as to what this colour
scheme is. Does anybody have it listed?

Engine plate (on LH fender edge under hood) reads BAP 100908 ... What
does this mean?

Keys: My short key FITS and OPENS BOTH doors, and my long key (which
also works both doors and also the ignition) is assymetrically cut
(totally different cut from one side to the other - key only works ONE
WAY in both ignition and door locks).
Does anybody else have the same setup?

I tried having my ignition key recut to be the same on both sides (as my
FHC TR7s are), but neither of these two keys worked (each key had on
side of the current key copied onto both of its sides). Therefore, I
think the key must have been assymetrical from the factory.

If anybody can fill in, disqualify, or even verify this data...
PLEASE REPLY! 8^)

talking to the locksmith today (who was unable to find my key code in
his book... but that's another story), he mentioned that he used to own
a GT6. He apparently put HOURS of work into it... perfectly restored it
(I have seen it and can attest that the car is BEAUTIFUL!!). Not long
after it was completed (including the best paint job I have EVER seen on
a brit-car), his wife filed for divorce and TOOK IT. He said that
everytime he sees it around town (Lethbridge is small, 60 000 people),
it feels like someone is rotating a broadsword in his chest! He says
that he hasn't spoken to the new owners (ex-wife sold it immediately), but
is curious how much they paid for it. 8^(

POOR GUY! -- You can do anything to me..., just don't take away my
Triumph!!) 8^)

Looking forward to getting to know my Triumph more intimately ...

Greg.
