It is possible to mix oil and water by mixing the two ultrasonically.
I have an ultrasonic nebulizer used to convert liquids to very
fine mists so that hospital patients can breath the mists to aid
in curing lung diseases. A few years ago I was shaking the oil and
vinegar to put on my salad and noticed that before I could actually get the mix
to my salad, the two would separate. So.....I took the mixture to
the basement, placed it into my nebulizer ( a tank with a high power
ultrasonic transducer) and mixed it right up. The good news is that
it no longer separated. The bad news is that it looked like urine with
spices floating in it.u
Which brings us to fuel and water. In the late 70's when fuel was
scarce, a guy on Long Island mixed gasoline and water ultrasonically
and ran it straight into his carbs. He said that he could mix upto
30% water with no change in his carb. settings. The down side is that
it tended to rust his valves. Very interesting. Additives did not help
in reducing the rust. The article also mentioned the effect of the
steam in the cylinder in aiding efficiency. It also discussed
the problem of freezing of the fuel. I just thought I'd throw
that in.
Cheers--
