Good or bad, the grant is done and the teaching hasn't started yet so I've
re-upped for the list. I thought I would post an update on the '63 B
restoration. Well, it actually is almost done. It went on its maiden
voyage last Saturday, and brought honor to the marque. In fact, it runs
very well (good oil preasure, runs "cool," actually has some pickup, has a
good strong solid feel to it and has only a few minor bugs left to flesh
out. Among them are:
-the steering rack needs a shim or two, as it has a bit of slop in it
-the rear carb has a nasty habbit of sticking with the choke open
-the rear shocks need to be topped off
-the horns need to be wired
-the toe-in needs to be set
-the head lights need to be aimed
-the driver's side seat track needs some attention
-the track for the driver's side window needs some attention
-M**s needs to send me some wiper arms
-final timing and carb settings need to be made.
Other than that, it is the usual stuff with a new engine like checking the
head bolts and the valve clearances after about 500 miles, changing the oil
and topping up the master cylinders and checking all fittings for leaks. It
has been a long time for me since I've cruised in a B and let me tell you it
is one pleasant experience!

P.S. How does all of the above go towards explaining that I saw a pretty
interesting Alfa Romeo Jullietta (sp?) in the neighborhood yesterday, that
would be a good candidate for restoration (so I put a note on the windshield
in case the owner is interested in selling)??????????? Is there an Alfa
group on e-mail??? How 'bout an Italian car list? I need to go lie down! =:o
