All,

I'm slowly getting used to the noises my TR7 makes, and I'm beginning to
think I'm hearing bearing noises. The only way to describe it would be
someone playing the bongos, but at a lower pitch. The beat is erratic, and
the noise seems to abate somewhat when accelerating.

I just finished adjusting the valves, and I actually enjoyed taking off the
cam and learning more about the engine. The valves were very tight, and they
are making their usual sewing machine music, but could I have somehow changed
something else after making them looser?

If I put my ear down near the engine, the noise certainly seems to come from
underneath the head.

So, how can I confirm? Use a rubber hose and listen more carefully? Try
some 40 weight oil to see if it goes away? Or are there other possible
explanations of the noise?

As always, thanks for any/all advice.
