Likely not in need of a rebuild, Jeremy. More likely stuck contact points.
I understand this happens with Lucas fuel pumps too (familliar sound of man
banging on a fuel pump with a large rock and cursing) ;^). Any electrically
savvy fix-it guy should have it up and running quickly.
