Tech: Trans seal

I just got a transmission seal kit from Ross, and I am not sure how to
install the front cover oil seal.  It looks like a metal cup with a
rubber gasket in it.  Does that seal slip down over the main drive shaft
with the rubber facing down? It does not seem to fit very tightly
against the front cover. Can any of you roadster experts help me out?
