I sent mine out recently to have it steamed.  It did not look bad at all
inside but I could not see everywhere.  The steam job seems to have caused
some rust to start (at least on the outside of the tank).  I thought most
tanks were galvanized and therefore would not rust.  Now I have to decide if
I want to paint it.  Larry.

Mick, My car had been sitting for awhile, I took the gas tank off and had it
boiled out and coated.  Cost $ 80. I had to replace one of the fuel lines as
they had closed up with old gas and trash.  I used plenty of carb cleaner to
spray into the lines to flush them out.  Good Luck,
