During engine set up, cam changes, head gasket repair and other operations,
having the "Evil L" secures your timing chain arrangement and it's great to
have. But if it freaks you out knowing that it also does a great job of
hand-grenading your timing componets, Grab it with a pair of Vise-Grips, and
work it back and forth until it snaps off clean. Then you can display it in
your thophy case.
But before you do that, Inspect it and inspect it when ever you take the
valve cover off. if it's as notched as much as the the one in Gordon's
photos, Hell yes get rid of it. If it isn't damage keep your upper chain
tennsioner shimmed and it won't get damaged.
