I didn't respond, because I did not run into your
problem when I replaced my low windshield last winter.
The glass was snug in the frame. I did mess up by
gluing the body to frame gasket on the day B4 so it
would be stable. Not a bad idea, but I miscalculated,
and had a gap in front on the windshield frame where
it fits in the gasket. I filled the void with black
sealer & it looks OK, and I suppose will be as water
tight as you can make a detachable framed windsghield.
I will never really know because I avoid driving in
the rain, and if I do, My top gasket leakes like a
sieve...
