I went through that with my 66, you have to take the sending unit out
and "adjust" it. it involves bending the float rod, it is a bit of
trial and error. took me about a week to get right. Better to err on
the side of being empty when it's not, than optomistic....then again
you could always try my auxillary gas tank trick ;-)
