No, I used the turn signal from my 510 on the '68 2000.
Doesn't work on a '69/'70 roadster. (Note, the 510
wagon wiring was different than the 510 sedan, much
more like the '69/'70 roadster... those switches have
long been NLA).

'68 still had a separate turn signal (upper) & brake lights
(lower). All four came on with the parking lights.

'69 & '70 used a different turn signal. The turn signal and
braking lights were combined so both lights acted as turn
signal's or brakes. Hence a different turn signal switch.

While a '68 switch would bolt in, you would have to change
quite a bit of the wiring harness around to function.

As to a SHORT causing the lights to blow, have you checked
everything else to insure it is the turn signal switch that
causes the problem. Maybe I am just stubborn, but usually
all the turn signal switch needs is a good cleaning of
contacts. I've seen far more shorts in the harness by pinched
wire, or worn insulation.
