According to a local spring shop, in order to replicate the original
spring rate, the "free arch dimension" is required. This would be the
arch of the spring as it sits free without any vehicle weight on it.

"In the old days" the individual leaves would be rerolled to this
dimension, then retempered in a furnace to achieve original performance.
Most modern shops no longer retemper, and therefore must over-roll past
the original free arch to an increased arch, which will then perform as
original when installed.

Is the "free arch dimension" of the rear springs available in any of the
technical resources?

What was original ride height, or more accurately, the axle centerline
to frame or body dimension?

Thanks in advance
Bill Murdock

My black car is sagging, springs have no bow in them and the rear end

really low.
