Kazaa has a built in, but separate
(according to Kazaa), program to report
your activity and interests for
advertising purposes. This program,
called Brilliant if I remember correctly
cannot be uninstalled by itself. You
must remove both Brilliant and Kazaa to
be successful. Removing Kazaa is an
involved process, but if you have it
installed I am sure there are web sites
that will tell you how to do it. I
might even have the instructions
somewhere in my PC because I banned it
from any PC on my home LAN. I have been
given to understand that it not only
reports on the PC it is installed on,
but other PC's on the LAN as well.

Adaware is a very good program. You
will notice some spy programs come back
almost as fast as you disable them.
That is because the spy program is
activated by a cookie. If you chase
down the source of the ad you can
sometimes find a disable cookie for that
advertiser. Once you install that
cookie they will not be reported by
Adaware. DoubleClick is one such site
that does have an OPT OUT cookie on
their web site. It takes a lot of
looking, but it is there.

Run AdAware, its a spyware finder made
by Lavasoft. Probably something you
installed recently (Kazaa, Real Player,
stuff like that).

AdAware will ferret out the offender and
give you the option to delete.
