Well,  way back in the 70's a company called NICS (later became part of ADP
Dealer Services) could keep a count of 'Lost Sales'.  These were factored
into the demand for parts to calculate suggested ordering quantities.  I
reckon any new fangled forecasting systems would do the same.  Lets all
start asking for windshields. :)
